Inception Cookies time again!
An Inception Cookie is a cookie within a cookie.
And this one is a cookie within chocolate frosting within a cookie.
I was buying plain animal crackers at the store, like you do. Plan animal crackers are my favorite bought cookie. Just then I noticed the frosted animal crackers.
You know, the ones I couldn’t find for love or money a couple of years ago?
Yeah, those.
They’re back on my grocer’s shelves; on the shelf under the unfrosted ones. But I’ve already done frosted animal crackers cookie inception.
Then I saw the frosted dinosaur cookies on the shelf below them. Blue dinosaurs and green dinosaurs to be exact.
Next thing you know, I am deciding to do another Inception Cookie. Featuring the frosted dinosaurs. Any bearing to the colors of the Charlotte football team, the Panthers, is entirely accidental.
I started off by making my normal base cookie. Yeah, the one I bastardized from the Tollhouse Cookie recipe. Today my microwave was a little too zealous in softening the butter. Normally, I only put the two sticks in for 25-30 seconds and get the perfectly softened butter.
Not today.
Today my microwave chose violence. Well, it chose melting almost completely.
I rolled with it and made the dough as usual. Next, I chopped up a double handful of the frosted dinosaurs cookies and added them as the “chips” to the cookie dough.
I used a larger than normal cookie scoop, to account for the larger than normal chips.
Which meant I had to adjust the baking time. Which is what I would normally write here.
Today, I baked off of vibes only.
This means no timer.
They were perfect!
I do not normally buy cookies, the unfrosted animal crackers not withstanding, but these frosted dinosaurs made the Inception Cookie.
They were pretty to boot!
