Cookie Thursday 10/22/26- Just Trick

Cookie Thursday is a Thing October theme is Something Wicked This Way Comes and the cookie for this week is a trick cookie.

No, not really. There are cookies involved.

I just didn’t make them.

I’ve done this before, in the distant past.

But never this intentionally.

I have bought cookies in the past when I had plumb run out of time to bake. When I had back to back meetings at a downtown hospital after I had worked hard the night before and it was all that I could do to work my shift, get to bed, get up and rush to my meetings, and get back before 1200. There isn’t enough time to back an entire batch between 1200 and 1410 when I would leave to do my shift at my hospital.

I would buy cookies in that instance.

Knowing that next week is the big October finale where I make homemade candies, several types, as the CTIAT, I wanted to be a little more chill. This was made easier by the Too Good To Go bakery bag that I picked up from Whole Foods.

Do you know Too Good To Go? Let me tell you. It involves a partnership of stores and or restaurants and or coffee shops and or gas stations and an app. The stores etc. all have food they don’t want to sell but also don’t want to throw out. Perhaps it is coming close to its sell buy date. The Too Good To Go app puts them up for purchase, at a sharply discounted rate, for the users of the app. The kicker is that there is no way of knowing what IS in the bag prior to pick up.

I’ve had a couple of stinkers but on the whole I highly encourage use of the scheme.

The bakery bag that I got from Whole Foods? Three different containers of the same cookie, a 4 pack of pumpkin muffins, a loaf of sourdough, and an eclair. For $7.00.

Sounds like a basis of a Trick CTIAT.

These were thick cookies! So I cut them into fourths and piled all 12 turned into 36 cookie pieces into the CTIAT container. Knowing that I would be a bit short, I also purchased a dozen from Aldi. These were smaller cookies so I cut them in half.

My kind of trick. Not mean, just kind.
