Cookie Thursday is a Thing 3/5/26- The return of the Jalapeño Chocolate Chip Cookies

I have sourced a new place to procure dried jalapeños. I used dried when the fresh ones are pricey and not very good quality because it is still Winter. No matter what the temperature says. Although I did see the yellow pollen on my car yesterday. So we have that to look forward to.

I also used the Kitchen aid mixer to cream the butter and sugar until pale.

You know, like you are supposed to.

But I didn’t stop there. I used the mixer to make all the dough.

butter, sugars, diced jalapeños plus the 1/4 c water they’d been soaking in all night, 2 room temperature eggs, 1 tsp vanilla paste, 2 1/2 c flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp of salt, 2 c chocolate chips all went in at a staggered rate.

The dough was pale and there was enough of it for 4 full trays of 12 cookies each.

But they didn’t spread. Like at all.

Mystery.

Was it the baking soda? Nope, new box.

Was it the flour? Nope, new bag.

Was is it the sugar? Nope, new bag.

Definitely a mystery.

I am pleased with the new jalapeño vendor. I tasted a bit of the water after they’d been soaking all night. Medium spicy. Perfect.

I will have to keep my eye on the cookies next week. They didn’t respond as expected.

But that is the fun of Cookie Thursday is a Thing. Messing with the variables.
